swimmer(s)!
Swimming in our area (Southeast) is divided into 2 'seasons'
Long course / Spring/Summer season (April thru August)
and
Short course /
Fall/Winter Season (August thru May)
SHORT COURSE
-
Short course (Aug thru
May) is swum in 25 yard pools.
-
All MYB swimmers
regardless of age are coached for, and encouraged to
attend short course
meets.
-
These meets are identified on the meet
schedule as team, optional or level/qualifiers meets.
Most short course meets are TEAM meets where it is
expected that all MYB swimmers will attend.

If the meet is a "TEAM" meet - this means ALL MYB swimmers
must OPT IN
if they wish to attend this meet.
Your escrow account will be charged
for the meet |
 | If the meet is a "Qualifiers" - this means ALL MYB swimmers WITH
QUALIFYING TIMES FOR THAT MEET must OPT IN if they wish to attend.
Your escrow account will be charged for the meet.
Qualifier Meets will
have a link to the appropriate qualifying time standards,
if you are still
not sure if you are qualified, please check with your coach. |
All
meet entries must be final 30 calendar days before the meet start date -
all
entries will be submitted and charged at that time (as per
handbook/contract) so please review meet schedules in a timely manner.
Short Course season ends with 3
"Championship Meets"

For 8 and under swimmers - The
Districts 8&Under Championship Meet
ends the short course season

For "Intermediate"
Swimmers who made "southeastern qualifying
times/cuts" the Southeastern
Championship Meet ends the short course
season

 |
For National Team
Members who made "National Times/Cuts/Senior
times" The YMCA Nationals
Championship ends the short course season.
(This meet is called "Y-NATS")

LONG COURSE
-
Long course (May thru
Aug) is swum in 50 Meter ("Olympic size") pools
ALL MYB Swimmers are eligible to
participate in Long Course meets. Check
with coaching staff to
determine which Long Course meets are appropriate for your swimmer.
MYB
Swimmers have three "types" of summer swimming options -
check
with your coaches to determine which is best for your and your
swimmer.
Option 1- Swims with a local Summer Swim League only, this is the fun
league held over the summer at
various locations around the city

Option 2- Swims with a local Summer
Swim League only this is the
fun league held over the summer at
various locations around the city
AND attends occasional MYB Practices (long
course practices in morning at Prattville Long Course pool or afternoon MYB
practices at the East YMCA)

Typically this is Silver

Option 3- Swims MYB Long Course
only attending morning practices at
Prattville Long Course pool and
afternoon MYB practices at the East YMCA
 |
Typically this is Senior thru
National |
Long course meets are identified on the meet
schedule as team, or qualifiers meets. Swimmers in Bronze thru Silver
1 levels typically attend at LEAST the
Jubilee meet, Sprint meet (which is a
short course 25 yard format meet), and
The CLUB meet. Other meets may
be attended with OK by Coaching staff.

season. The top swimmers, ages 11 - 18, are chosen for the
Southeastern
All-Star Team. This team will compete against other all-star teams in

Southern Zone.

The Southeastern Sectionals Meet ends the long course season.

"Sectionals")
