About the Barracudas

The Montgomery YMCA Barracudas is Montgomery's year round swim team.  Our goal is to train swimmers to be competitive in an atmosphere that they will enjoy.

We have four levels of swimmers.

Our beginning group is called Bronze.  These swimmers are learning the fundamentals of swimming and how to swim each of the four strokes that are used in competition.  Bronze swimmers practice a minimum of two times a week and a maximum of four times a week.

Our next group is call Silver, these swimmers are a little more advanced and are learnig to fine tune their skills in the four competition strokes as well as gaining a more competitive edge.  Silver swimmers practice a minimum of three times a week and a maximum of five times a week.

Gold is the name of our next group of swimmers.  These swimmers are really beginning to get serious about their swimming.  They are highly involved in swim meets and practice hard.  Gold swimmers practice a minimum of five times a week and a maximum of seven times a week.

The Senior/National Team is our last group of swimmers.  These swimmers are very dedicated to swimming and represent the Montgomery YMCA at meets nationwide.  Gold swimmers practice a minimum of seven times a week and a maximum of nine times a week including a minimum of two 5am workouts each week.
